When Jeff leaves his home in Los Angeles and travels to Moscow to shoot a documentary film about the plight of his Azerbaijani parents, he is forced to make a choice that will change his life. This love story is framed by the drama of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union. It is an adventure in which the hero stands up to the suspicion and threats of both the FBI and the KGB.

BROKEN BRIDGES is the first feature film to investigate the social and political chaos created by the fragmentation of the Soviet Union. By examining the roots of the nationalistic struggle in oil rich Azerbaijan, it brings to light the drama being played through out the world today by ethnic groups searching for their national identity and oil cartels trying to maintain the status quo.

Filmed on location in the United States, Russia and Azerbaijan, BROKEN BRIDGES is one of the first English language American and Azerbaijani co-productions.
